For our third annual Summer Internship program, we’re fortunate to welcome 19 talented, high-performing interns to JLL in SoCal. These students have been very busy, immersed in real-time real estate projects, and preparing for their final presentations. We’re happy to introduce you to each of them… one at a time.
Meet Robert Brandt
Robert is interning with leasing professional Lalo Diaz, based in our Downtown Los Angeles office. He has been using CoStar to conduct extensive research into various LA submarkets, while creating marketing brochures for Lalo’s clients. Additionally, he calls leasing agents to facilitate tours with potential tenants, and along with setting up tours and gathering information and comps on numerous office properties, he has been involved in touring brokers and potential tenants at 2Cal Plaza where Lalo handles the leasing for the landlord, CIM.
What school are you attending?
What is your major?
What is your favorite past time?
My favorite past time is running. I run for enjoyment and competitively at the division 1 level at UCLA. I have met some amazingly passionate and driven people in the running community and I love every second of it. This past year I achieved a lifelong goal of becoming a First Team All-American in the 10,000 meters.
What app can you absolutely not do without?
Who is your favorite band/musician?
Cage the Elephant
What is the best advice you’ve ever received?
The best advice I’ve received is from my father and that is to make success a habit through your day to day routine. Success in anything comes through habitual routine and not a singular act. I try to remind myself of this every morning when I wake up.
Who is the biggest influence in your life?
One of the biggest influencers in my life was my high school track coach. He would always intersect track with life and I took countless life lessons from him that I carry with me to this day.
What is a unique adventure or hobby people would say “wow” to?
I hiked (ran) the Inca trail up to Machu Picchu last summer.
What are you enjoying most about your internship experience?
I’ve enjoyed how hands on it is. I have been fully immersed in JLL’s culture and unique, technologically advanced real estate strategy. The structure of the intern program has allowed me to be a contributor and not just an observer.
What are you hoping to take away from this internship experience?
I want to build authentic relationships and gather technical skills that I can continue to use throughout my professional career. I want to come away with a broad understanding of the commercial real estate industry and I believe brokerage allows the freedom to “dip my toes” in all sides of the business.
Describe yourself in three words.
Competitive, Consistent, Authentic.
Tell us something most people wouldn’t know about you.
On my first driver’s license I was 5’1 and 95 pounds.
The JLL Summer Internship Program provides students a head start into the real estate industry. They receive the support from our broker sponsors and professional staff, and the full depth of our corporate resources to achieve their personal and professional ambitions.
