For our third annual Summer Internship program, we’re fortunate to welcome 19 talented, high-performing interns to JLL in SoCal. These students have been very busy, immersed in real-time real estate projects, and preparing for their final presentations. We’re happy to introduce you to each of them… one at a time.
Meet Blake Dorvillier
Blake has been interning in our San Diego office with real estate professionals Bob Prendergast and Lynn LaChapelle focused on office capital markets. He has been working on a broad spectrum of projects including researching market data, setting up and running meetings, building offering memorandums and broker opinions of value, creating write-ups for national publications, and touring properties. In addition, he has had the opportunity to spend time and learn from some of the other teams in the office.
What school are you attending?
What is your major?
Business Administration with a concentration in finance and real estate
What is your dream job?
Unrealistically, I’d want to be a professional surfer and get paid to travel the world and hangout at some of the world’s most beautiful beaches. My more practical dream job would be getting involved with developing commercial real estate.
What is your favorite past time?
I can’t go without actively spending time in the outdoors. Whether it’s skiing, surfing, fishing, mountain biking or scuba diving, I’m always looking for a new challenge and adventure.
What is the best advice you’ve ever received?
“Live as if you were to die tomorrow. Learn as if you were to live forever.” -Gandhi
Who is the biggest influence in your life?
I’ve always looked up to my dad who is one of the most driven and selfless people I’ve ever met.
What is a unique adventure or hobby people would say “wow” to?
I hand shape surfboards and for the most part only ride boards that I’ve built myself.
What are you enjoying most about your internship experience?
I really enjoyed everything about the internship program. Every day I meet new people who seem genuinely excited to spend some time together and are so happy to share their insights while asking any questions I have. I learn something new about the industry of commercial real estate every day and that is what I have enjoyed most.
What are you hoping to take away from this internship experience?
I hope to walk away from the internship with a better understanding of the many avenues that one can take to build a career in commercial real estate while holding on to the great relationships that I’ve made during my 8 weeks at JLL.
