LA’s 1Cal team wins big at TOBY awards

Thursday, October 6, 2016 marked the Building Owners and Managers Association’s 31st annual TOBY (The Outstanding Building of the Year) awards ceremony. The JLL team from 1 Cal Plaza, owned by Beacon Capital Partners, submitted their property for the last category of the night, the TOBY for “Over 1 Million Square feet”. As the time came for the final winner to be announced the entire 1Cal team, including Group Manager and Vice President, Peter Anastassiou, and Associate Director, Michelle Morales sat with their team in grave anticipation. Months of planning, practice, and preparation boiled down to that defining moment. The entire 1Cal team had a lot to celebrate and be proud of as they were announced as the winners of their category.

“Submission for building of the year is a huge task and the 1Cal team strived for excellence and succeeded.  The team did a phenomenal job bringing the property to its current level”, says Associate Director Michelle Morales.

1Cal’s theme for their TOBY tour/presentation was football. Each member of the team donned a customized football jersey with the 1Cal colors and a customized 1Cal football that was passed around during the tour. No detail was left unturned as the team pushed creativity to the limit to stand out among their competition.

1Cal’s team motto, 1Cal 1Team, encompasses the true camaraderie, professionalism, and partnership displayed by the1Cal team, not only during the BOMA process, but on a daily basis to make 1Cal Plaza a truly outstanding building.

The 1Cal team includes: Vice President, Group Manager, Peter Anastassiou; Associate Director, Michelle Morales; Assistant General Manager, Rachel Goff; Property Assistant, Gina Chacon; Director of Security, Louis Martinez; Janitorial Project Manager, Aldo Valadez; and Chief Engineer, Danny Adams.
